Supply and demand is considered a basic economic concept, as well as a vital part of a free market economy. Supply is the amount of something, such as a product or service, that a market has available. Demand is the amount of the product or service that buyers want to purchase. The relationship between supply and demand has a good deal of influence on the price of goods and services.

The law of demand is a microeconomic principle. According to this principle, a rise in the price of a good or service will cause the number of people demanding that good or service to contract. Conversely, a decrease in the price of a good or service will cause the demand for the good or service to expand. In order for the law of demand to be properly applied and understood, external factors such as the consumer’s income, personal preference and the price or availability of a substitute good are controlled for and not considered in the analysis.

The law of supply is a basic economic principle stating that as supply for a certain product increases, the price for that product will also increase. This is typically seen with new products that are in high demand, but may also apply to many other products, including commodities.

There is a close association between the law of supply and the law of demand because the two work hand in hand. As the supply increases with the price, demand will eventually drop. Eventually, that will lead to a drop in price as companies try to get rid of excess inventory.

Generally, supply and demand are two opposing forces that work against each other.

It is possible for supply and demand to be equal. In order for this to happen, the amount of supplied products or services must equal the demand for those products and services. If this relationship between supply and demand is attained, the economy is balanced in a state of equilibrium.

Beautiful ideas ready for implementation

A state programme to construct residential districts for Minsk citizens in satellite towns, and to shift major industrial facilities outside the capital, is bringing development to Smolevichi, unveiling new possibilities.

The skyline of the town will feature a mix of low and high-rise buildings, enabling the population to rise to 38,000 by 2020 and 64,000 by 2030 (up from today’s 16,000).

No doubt, industrial plants, business centres, entertainment and trading facilities and administrative buildings will soon be attracted, as Smolevichi is just 38km from the capital, with two major roads passing nearby

In addition, it has a railway, a national airport and wonderful countryside, making it a beautiful and convenient place to live.

The integral town-building idea includes a new residential district designed to blend with the existing environment. A public centre is to launch close to the new town square (near the Smolevichi water reservoir) while recreational and sporting zones are also to appear.

Few can argue that the plans are impressive. Soon, the town will be enjoying a modern, convenient and harmonious environment, which will only grow more beautiful with time. Innovative ideas are ready for implementation.
