The economic branch of the Republic of Belarus is presented by financially stable companies which are known not only in this country but abroad.

"Kommunarka" is the leading belarusian enterprise. Its specialization is confectionaries. The enterprise is famous not only in Belarus, but also in the countries of ex-Soviet Union and abroad. Today it is a well-known enterprise. Its main principle of functioning is stability. Every year "Kommunarka" increases its capacity.

The Belarusian German company Marco is a principal contributor the the country’s shoe-maker reputation. The annual output of around 2 million pairs of footware enables the company to hold a leading position among both Belarusian makers and other producers on the post-Soviet area.

The joint-stock company Brest Dairy factory is one of the leading and well-known manufacturers of dairy products in Belarus. The company processes about 200, 000 tons of milk a year and exports almost a quarter of its milk, yogurt, sour cream and cheese output. Its produce is in great demand not only in Belarus but also at the Russian market.

The open joint-stock company Svitanak is one of the largest and most popular Belarusian manufacturers of cotton wear. The export volume of the enterprise accounts for 50 % of the total selling pattern. Russia is the major importer of Svitanak products with some 40 % of the total export of the enterprise, the other 10% belong to the countries outside GIS – Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and the Baltic States.

The leading enterprise in machine-building and metal-processing is «Belarusian Automobile Plant» («BelAZ»), which is located in the town of Zhodino. The main products of the enterprise – heavy dump trucks, designed to operate in an open pit mining, as well as on construction of large hydraulic and industrial structures. Along with the dump trucks the enterprise manufactures a wide range of consumer goods: trailers for passenger cars, electric heaters, elektrobarbecue, gardening equipment, household goods, toys and other products.

The enterprises of the forest, wood-processing and pulp-paper industry produce lumber, fibreboards, plywood, furniture and other goods. It is JSC «Borisovdrev», JSC «Slutsk Furniture Factury», Belarusian-German Production Enterprise «Minsk Furniture Centre» in Molodechno (one of the biggest specialized companies in the country for production of furniture from pine).

There are other significant enterprises: «Borisov Plant of Medical Drugs» – a leading enterprise of the pharmaceutic industry of the Republic of Belarus; «Borisov Crystal Factory» produces dishes of crystal and clear glass; «Slutsk Belts» – the largest enterprise of arts and crafts of the republic, produces fabrics and knitwear; «Slutsk Plant «Emalposuda» produces black cast-iron and enamel ware, sports equipment, and many others.
