Скромность украшает.
Вообще к 1990 году Интернет был известен уже несколько десятилетий, но преимущественно ученым и военным. Потому что был чересчур сложным для пользования. Но Бернес-Ли еще в 1980-м году написал компьютерную программу под названием "Записки", в которой объединил в единое целое текст, графику, звуки, видео. Именно на ее основе им и его сотрудниками впоследствии была создана глобальная гипертекстовая система, названная World Wide Web (те WWW, которые ставятся в начале любого интернетного адреса). Вообще-то идея, как понятно из экскурса, далеко не новая, новым стал лишь подход Бернерса-Ли: он предложил рассредоточить базу данных по всему миру (а не собирать ее в каком-то одном месте, как думали сделать до него). В начале 1990-х Тим написал первый вебсервер и веббраузер, и в 1992 году доступ к нему открыла швейцарская компания CERN, в которой Бернерс-Ли работал тогда. Корпорации тут же поняли, какую выгоду таит в себе новое средство общения, и мгновенно стали им пользоваться. Бернерс-Ли, считая, что доступ к Интернету должны получить все желающие, сознательно не стал оставлять за собой копирайт (авторское право) на WWW и, выражаясь по-нашему, "остался на бобах". Повторим: он не самый бедный в мире человек. Просто деньги его не очень интересуют. Интересуют Бернерса-Ли совсем другие вещи: разработка новых стандартов для Сети, согласование потенциалов различных технологий (то есть вполне конкретные научные задачи) и т.д. Он хочет предоставить любому человеку возможность опубликовать им (человеком) написанное и прочитать все, что его (человека) интересует. Но если "почитать" можно многое (однако не все) и именно из-за того, что коммерческая сфера ушла из-под влияния Бернерса-Ли - истинного "отца всемирной паутины" - сделать первое сейчас совсем непросто: надо денежки платить. P.S. Вот если бы у кормила Интернета стоял не парень типа Гейтса, а парень типа Бернерса-Ли! Как бы легко тогда дышалось в виртуальных пространствах. Но, к сожалению, это только мечты...
