Take one of these quizzes and write a one-page reflection on your results referring to at least THREE concepts in the chapter (10 points).

Quiz 1: Communication Patterns in the Family

Place a check mark next to each statement with which you agree. Then check your score to determine your family communication pattern.

Conversation Orientation

Scoring: For each orientation, a total number of check marks of 0–4 indicates “Low” and a total of 5–9 indicates “High.” High conversation/high conformity suggests that your family is consensual; high conversation/low conformity, pluralistic; low conversation/high conformity, protective; and low conversation/low conformity, laissez-faire.

Think about how you communicate with, relate to, and behave toward your friends. Then check the statements with which you agree and total the number you have marked. Check your score at the bottom.

Scoring: These characteristics represent the qualities people associate with close, trustworthy, and dependable friends. If you scored 11–15, you are exceptionally high on these qualities; 6–10, average; 0–5, low.
