1. Statement of Sea Protest by dry cargo vessels

STATEMENT OF SEA PROTEST

I, Nikolai Fyodorovich Petrov, Master of the m/v "Sukhona," re­gistered at the port of Odessa and sailing under the flag of the Ukraine, gross-registered tonnage—4701, on the 22nd of April, 20 . . ., sailed from the port of London with a cargo of Machinery, 7200 tons, bound for Liverpool, and arrived there at Berth No. 37 on the 24th of April, 20 . . ., at 11.00 a.m., receiving pratique at 16.00 HRS.

On the 22nd and 23rd April, 20 . . . , we encountered very heavy weather with North-Easterly winds of whole gale force and high sea; the vessel during this period was pitching, rolling and labouring heavily, shipping very heavy water Fore and Aft, hatches and vents being continually awash.

In consequence of the aforesaid weather conditions I anticipate possible damage to the cargo.

I hereby declare this Sea Protest in the event of any damage to the vessel or the cargo through stress of weather conditions during the voyage.

I, the Master, and the crew have applied all means of safeguard­ing the vessel and the cargo.

STATEMENT OF SEA PROTEST

I, Pyotr Nikolayevich Orlov, Master of the m/v "Nakhodka", sail­ing under the Russian flag and registered at the port of St. Peterburg, G. R. T. 7350 tons, completed loading at Odessa on the 27th of June, 20 . . ., and sailed from the said port on the 28th of June, 20 . . . with a cargo of 6709 tons of which 1550 were destined for Cardiff, where we arrived at Berth No. 25 on the 20th July, 20 . . ., at 12.00 and rece­ived pratique at 15.00 HRS.

On the voyage I experienced the following weather conditions:

Odessa to Istanbul

29th June, 20 . . . Strong wind. Gale force squalls. Rough sea.

Short heavy swell. Overcast. Occasional

showers. Pitching and shipping water. 1st July, 20 . . . Strong wind, rough sea, heavy swell, vessel

rolling heavily and shipping water. Cloudy, fine and clear.

Matapan to Gibraltar

7th July, 20 . Strong wind, rough sea, heavy swell. Vessel

rolling heavily and shipping water. Cloudy, fine & clear.

8th July, 20 . . . Fresh wind, rough sea, heavy swell, vessel

rolling heavily. Cloudy, fine & clear.

Gibraltar to Fenisterre

10th July, 20 . . . Strong wind, rough sea, moderate to heavy

Swell, spraying forward. Cloudy and clear.

12th July, 20 . . . Strong wind with gale force squalls. Rough

sea, heavy swell, rolling and pitching & shipping water.

Cloudy, fine & clear.

Fenisterre to Uessant

14th July, 20 . . . Fresh to strong wind, rough sea, moderate swell.

Vessel spraying. Overcast. Occasional light rain. Clear. 18th July, 20 . . . Moderate gale, rough sea, moderate short swell.

Vessel shipping water. Overcast, slight mist patches.

Owing to the above mentioned heavy weather conditions and very humid atmosphere during the voyage I anticipate possible damage to the cargo.

I, therefore, give notice of my intention of protesting against all losses and damages.

I, the Master, and the crew have applied all means of safeguard­ing the vessel and the cargo.
