Charterers need not supply full cargo. Фрахтователи не обя заны предоставлять полный груз.
В этом случае глагол need употребляется вместе с инфинитивом смыслового глагола в значении необходимости совершить какое-, либо действие. В этом смысле он употребляется только в вопросительных и отрицательных предложениях и без вспомогательного глагола do или does. Например:
Need you come here? Надо ли (нужно ли) вам сюда приходить?
You needn't take a pilot. Вам не нужно (т. е. вы не обязаны) брать лоцмана.
В значении же «нуждаться в чем-либо» глагол need употребляется, как и все смысловые глаголы, во всех 3 временах, и имеет обычные формы спряжения. Например:
