  1. Should the vessel not be ready; if the vessel should not be ready. Если судно не будет готово (инверсия в условном предло­ жении; см. Lesson Four, Explanatory Notes, 7).

  2. Whether in berth or not; whether the vessel is in berth or not. Независимо от того, будет ли судно у причала или нет (см. Lessor^ Two, Explanatory Notes, 5).

  4. В английском языке распространен предложный герундиаль­ ный оборот of+Gerund. Этот оборот большей частью выполняет функцию предложного определения существительного.

Если герундий в таком обороте стоит в действитель­ном залоге, он переводится на русский язык существитель­ным в родительном падеже (в функции определения):

the use of lighting использование освещения

Если герундий стоит в страдательном залоге с су-ществнтельным в общем падеже в функции определения, то он пе­реводится существительным или глаголом в личной форме:

Если же за герундием в таком обороте идет дополнение, то удобнее переводить его либо инфинитивом, либо развернутым при­даточным предложением:
