Exercise is needed for health.

Page 101.1 – “Exercise is another duty of the student. It is exceedingly important that a balance between the mental and physical energies should be maintained;”

Score – Significant

Why 49 – Exercise (What 25)

Exercise is needed to balance the electrical forces.

Page 101.1 – “If the electrical forces of the nervous system are all kept under tribute to the intellectual faculties, the rest of the system becomes weakened from want of use, and the mind soon wears out the whole.”

Comment – We all need exercise for health, but it is not to balance electrical forces.

What 26 – Type of Exercise

Walking is not the best exercise.

 

Page 103.1 – “Walking is another kind of exercise generally employed; but it is one of very little service generally: it is better than nothing, but very insufficient.”

Comment – Walking gives the best balance between aerobic and muscular activity. Many agricultural pursuits lack aerobic exercise.

Walking does not exercise the whole body.

Page 103.1 – “It (walking) only calls into exertion the lower limbs, which least need exercise, while the muscles of the chest and abdomen, which need them most, are not called into exertion.” Comment – All exercise is good, but walking is the best.
