Comment – The inference is that the more we breathe the better. The body automatically adjusts as to the quantity of air required. Over-breathing causes biochemical disturbances and neurological problems.

A woman’s waistband should be so loose she requires braces to hold up her dress.

May 5, 1863, page 179 - “My practical suggestion is that, without corsets, the dress waist should be full and loose; the skirtband buttoned about the waist much larger than the body, supported on the shoulders by suspenders, such as gentlemen wear, and attached to the band at the same points.” Dio Lewis M. D.

Comment – This is totally different to condemning tight clothes.
