Тема 4.1-й ттип условного придаточного предложения.

1-й тип условного придаточного предложения, как мы уже выяснили ранее, характеризуется следующим:

1. В придаточном предложении данного типа выражается реально-выполнимое условие, относящееся к будущему времени.

2. Союз придаточного предложения – «если (if)».

3. Глагол-сказуемое придаточного предложения стоит в Простом настоящем времени (Present Simple Tense). Глагол-сказуемое главного предложения стоит в Простом будущем времени (Future Simple Tense).

4. Глагол-сказуемое главного и придаточного предложения подчиняются правилу согласования времен.

Пример:

1-й тип:

Если завтра будет хорошая погода, мы поедем на дачу. – If tomorrow the weather is fine, we shall go to the country.

1-й тип при согласовании времен:

Он сказал, что, если завтра будет хорошая погода, мы поедем на дачу. – He said that if the next day the weather was fine, we would go to the country.

Упражнение 1. Переведите данные предложения на английский язык.

1. Если ты придешь завтра, я приготовлю праздничный ужин.

2. Если в понедельник работа будет закончена рано, мы сможем (be able to) пойти в кино.

3. Если Ник закончит перевод статьи сегодня, мы отошлем ее главному менеджеру.

4. Если вы придете сюда завтра утром, мы сможем помочь вам заполнить ваши анкеты.

5. Если летом мы поедем к морю, мы хорошо проведем там время.

Упражнение 2. Раскройте скобки, поставив глаголы в нужную форму и время. Прочтите, переведите и перескажите полученный текст. Напишите изложение по материалу, данному в упражнении. The second speaker from America (to stand) up, "After last year's conference I (to go) home and (to tell) my husband that I no longer (to do) his laundry and that he (to have) to do it himself. After the first day I (to see) nothing. After the second day I (to see) nothing. But after the third day I (to see) that he (to do) not only his own washing but my washing as well."

The crowd (to cheer).

The third speaker from Ireland (to stand) up, "After last year's conference I (to go) home and (to tell) my husband that I no longer (to do) his shopping and that he (to have) to do it himself. After the first day I (to see) nothing. After the second day I (to see) nothing. But after the third day I (can) (to see) a little bit out of my left eye."

Genie In The Lamp

A man (to walk) along a California beach and (to stumble) upon an old lamp. He (to pick) it up and (to rub) it and a genie (to pop) out.

The genie (to say), "OK, OK! You (to release) me from the lamp, blah, blah, blah. This (to be) the 4th time this month and I (to get) a little sick of these wishes so you (can) (to forget) about three. You only (to get) one wish!»

The man (to sit) and (to think) about it for a while and (to say), "I always (to want) to go to Hawaii, but I (to be) scared to fly and I (to get) very seasick. You (can) (to build) me a bridge to Hawaii ? So I (can) (to drive) over there to visit it."

The genie (to laugh) and (to say), "That (to be) impossible! (To think) of the logistics of that! How the supports ever (to reach) the bottom of the Pacific? (To think) of how much concrete, how much steel! No, (to think) of another wish!"

The man (to say), "OK" and (to try) to think of a really good wish. Finally, he (to say): "I (to be) married and divorced four times. My wives always (to say) that I (not to care) and that I (to be) insensitive. So, I (to like) to understand women, know how they feel inside and what they (to think) when they (to give) me the silent treatment, know why they (to cry), know what they really (to want) when they (to say) «nothing», know how to make them truly happy."

The genie (to think) about it for a while and (to say): "You (to want) that bridge with two lanes or four?"

A 17-year-old who was caught on camera with a knife following a stabbing … the Notting Hill Carnival has been jailed … four and a half years.

Junior Henry, 17, is pictured as he fled after stabbing Rio Andre during the carnival … Monday 29th August.

He was jailed … four and a half years, but justice groups have slammed the decision saying he will be released … just two years.

Families for Justice Jean Taylor said she was shocked the thug was not locked up earlier. She told the Daily Mirror: "This yob we be out … two years if he behaves himself. The police must be so frustrated when all their hard work ends … sentences like this."

Bystander Valentine Simatchenko who witnessed the attack was hailed … a hero after attempting to trip up the perpetrator as police stood motionless.

Sentencing Henry … the Old Bailey, Judge Beaumont said: "In September 2007, when you were just 12-years-old, you were caught up in gang related mob violence … an estate … west London, … which a young man died an another was injured and had to flee … his life".

"You were tried before me … the murder and acquitted. You were convicted … conspiracy to cause GBH and violent disorder".

"The sentence that I passed … May 2009 was a three-year supervision order. That sentence was to reflect your extreme youth … the time … the events".

"Since passing that sentence … May 2009 I have twice varied that order because you breached it".

"You left this court … March 7 … my warning ringing in your ears. On March 16, you committed the offence … assault by battery … which you were convicted … the youth court … July 26 and bailed on the condition you would appear … this court for sentence".

Ed Miliband Snubbed By A Third Of Labour Voters

A third of Labour voters believe Ed Miliband should not lead … party into … next General Election.

According to … new poll only two out of every ten voters are satisfied with … Labour leader's performance.

Of those who voted for Labour in 2010, 34% said he should not lead … party into … 2015 general election, while just 46% said he should.

… ICM poll carried out for the Daily Mirror also found that 21% of voters said they are satisfied with … way he is leading … party, double … number (42%) said they are dissatisfied.

Among Labour voters, 45% said they were satisfied and 31% dissatisfied.

Mr Miliband will find it harder to dismiss criticism of his management style following publication of … poll by the newspaper which has traditionally backed his party.

Mr Miliband's approval rating is particularly low among older and male voters.

Of those polled, 61% of pensioners said they are unhappy with his leadership, while 48% of men say he is not up to the job, compared to 37% of women.

However, … poll offers Mr Miliband … few glimmers of hope.

Given … choice of eight Labour MPs, Ed Miliband came out on top with 16%, when asked who would be … best person to lead … party.

Martin Boon of ICM said: "Let's not be in any doubt that with less than half (45%) of 2010 Labour voters satisfied with him (31% dissatisfied) he is polling miserably."

ICM Research interviewed online sample of 1,435 adults aged 18 and over on August 16 and 18. … data has been weighted to … profile of all adults.

I (to go) without breakfast and (to hurry) out to the car, but I (to be) damned if I (not to lock) the house with both house and car keys inside. I (to have) to break a window to get my keys. Driving a little too fast, I (to get) a speeding ticket. Then, about three blocks from the store I (to have) a flat tire.

Then I (to have) to break a roll of nickels against the cash register drawer to make change, and they (to spill) all over the floor. I (to get) down on my hands and knees to pick up the nickels, the phone still (to ring), when I (to come) up I (to crack) my head on the open cash drawer, which (to make) me stagger back against a showcase with a bunch of perfume bottles on it, and half of them (to fall) the floor and (to brake).

The phone still (to ring) with no let up, and I finally (to get) back to answer it. It (to be) your wife, she (to want) to know how to use a thermometer. "Well, Mister," I (to tell) her!"

Shopping

A woman (to shop) at her local supermarket, where she (to select) a quart of milk, a carton of eggs, juice, and a package of bacon.

As she (to unload) her items on the conveyer belt to check out, a drunk standing behind her, (to watch) as she (to place) her items in front of the cashier.

He (to say), "You (must) (to be) single."

The woman (to startle), (to look) at her four items on the belt and, seeing nothing particularly unusual about her selections, said, "Well, you (to know), that (to be) right. But how you (to know) it? "

The drunk said, "Cause you (to buy) nothing for your husband."

Meet Shanice – the new hologram receptionist you will meet when you visit Brent Council's offices.

The cash-strapped council have come … fire for spending £12,000 … the futuristic greeter, while cutting jobs.

"Shanice" will be able to answer a small selection … basic questions and direct people … the most popular areas of the council building.

The council claims the £12,000 is £17,000 less than hiring a human receptionist, but critics claim that it is a very expensive way … resolving the issues …f poor signage in the building.

Councillor James Denselow said: "This is the sort … space age technology you hear about but never really expect to see, especially … council buildings".

"The best thing is it's going to save us lots … money, … compromising our service. Nowadays we're constantly having to look … innovative ways to cut costs and they don't come more cutting edge than Shanice".

"I hope people come down and visit her the next time they're … the Civic Centre, she looks great and she's always very friendly."

Laura Collignon … the Brent SOS Libraries campaign said: "It's incredibly wasteful. That £12,000 should be spent … essential services".

"When they cut libraries they said they needed money … things like home care and other core services, clearly a hologram isn’t a core service."
