Як працювати з новим текстом без наявності словника
Працюючи з незнайомим текстом не лякайтеся, якщо вам зустрічаються незнайомі слова чи фрази, значення яких ви не знаєте. Спробуйте визначити їх значення використовуючи один із наступних прийомів:
спробуйте визначити, якого роду інформацію передає незнайоме слово;
визначте до якої частини мови відноситься це слово за префіксами, суфіксами та ін.
спробуйте визначити значення за контекстом;
спробуйте визначити значення слова за словотворчими елементами;
визначте значення, беручи до уваги, що деякі англійські слова можуть мати схоже звучання із українськими словами (будьте обережні з «хибними друзями перекладача»);
визначте значення незнайомого слова спираючись на загальну тематику тексту.
якщо незнайоме слово не є ключовим та не несе на собі змістового навантаження, спробуйте зрозуміти текст незважаючи на це слово або вираз.
Як працювати з двомовним словником
І етап
визначте частину мови незнайомого слова за формальними ознаками: займенникам, артиклям, за загальним контекстом тощо;
якщо слово знаходиться в похідній формі, визначте його початкову форму шляхом відповідних операцій (відкиньте -еs, -ed; додайте –і відкиньте одну з подвоєних приголосних, змініть -i на -у, змініть -v на -f і т.і.);
визначте, чи є об'єкт пошуку словом або словосполученням. Якщо це − дієслово, то встановіть за ознаками, чи не відноситься до нього наступне слово, яке може впливати на значення слова;
