25. Anxiety – (to) concern – (to) worry
Concern → Worry → Anxiety
– source of anxiety/worry – источник беспокойства;
– to cause anxiety/worry – вызывать беспокойство.
Don’t worry about being con-
cerned; but be concerned about
worrying. Dr. Brouse
72
Worrying does not take away
tomorrow’s troubles; it takes
away today’s peace.
§1. (To) concern [kən’sɜːn]
Concern Is Healthy. –
• It gives cause for concern. –
• It should be of concern to us all.
out of concern for sb/sth – в страхе за кого-либо/за что-либо;
to be of concern to sb – вызывать беспокойство/тревогу /озабочен-
ность у кого-либо;
It is no concern of yours. It is none of your concern. –
• He was concerned about her health. –
• The poor state of the re escapes concerns me greatly. –
§2. (To) worry [‘wʌrɪ]
Worry Is Unhealthy.
• He is a great worry to her.
• No worries at all, mate. –
73
No worries.
be a worry to/for sb – быть источником беспокойства, доставлять
много хлопот кому-либо;
• You don’t have to worry. –
• Not to worry. Everything will be OK. –
Not to worry! –
to be worried about sb/sth – беспокоиться по поводу кого-либо/
§3. Anxiety [æŋ’zaɪətɪ]
• All these anxieties make her ill. –
acute/deep/grave/great/high/much anxiety – сильное беспокой-
ство/тревога;
to feel a nagging anxiety – испытывать мучительную тревогу; ≈
There is a great difference between worry and concern. A worried per-

26. Apart from – besides – except (for)
§1. Besides [bɪ’saɪdz]
– in addition to sb/sth.
• What do you know besides that?

• Let me sit down beside you.
§2. Except (for) [ɪk’sept]
– with the exception of, not including.
• Everybody was there except you. Except for?
• I like all fruit except (for) kiwis. –
• Except for this mistake, you did very well.
• I can sleep everywhere except on a bus. –

76
§3. Apart from [ə’paːt ‘frɔːm]
Apart
– except (for)).
• Apart from Jane there are two other girls in the swimming pool. –
• All the girls are in the swimming pool apart from Jane. –
вать besides, except (без for) или apart from по выбору:
• She has no other relatives except/besides/apart from me.
