§1. To become [bɪ’kʌm] – became [bɪ’keɪm] – become [bɪ’kʌm]
1) Формальное to become и универсальное to get в значении ‘становиться, делаться’ употребляют с прилагательными для указания на временные из­менения эмоционального и физического состояния, на изменения в при­роде и в обществе:
• He became/got angry. – Он разозлился.
• The days are becoming/getting shorter. – Дни становятся короче.
• The recession becomes/gets worse. – Рецессия ухудшается.
2) To become указывает на профес­сию, должность и социальный статус:
• to became an interpreter/a father – стать переводчиком/отцом.
3) To become используют с прилага-
тельными, обозначающими: – способности: able/unable, procient, skilled; – знание: aware, certain, convinced; – наличие: available, common, extinct; – ясность изложения:
clear, evident, obvious.

to become extinct – вымирать (о животных); to get to know sb – узнать кого-либо получше, познако-
миться с кем-либо поближе.
§2. To get [get] – got2 [gɔt]
2) To get используют, когда говорят
о единичном намеренном или спла­нированном действии:
• Please get (become) ready now. – Пожалуйста, приготовьтесь.
3) To get используют перед при-
частием прошедшего времени (3-я форма неправильных глаголов или глаголы с окончанием -ed):
broken, (un)dressed, red, killed, lost, married, used и т. п.;
• They got divorced yesterday. – Вче­ра они развелись.
§3. To go [gəu] – went [went] – gone [gɔn] To go в значении ‘становиться (обычно хуже)’ употребляют:
1) для указания на постепенные изменения самочувствия людей
в худшую сторону или с названиями физических дефектов:
– to go bald – лысеть; – to go crazy/mad/insane – сходить с ума.
• She was going blind. – Она постепенно слепла.
Внимание! – To go и to turn не ставят с прилагательными old,
ill, tired.

2) когда что-либо испортилось или не сработало:
• The meat goes bad. – Мясо портится.
• He went bankrupt. – Он обанкротился.

to go wrong – 1) идти не так, как надо; не получаться; 2) выйти из
строя (о механизме).
3) когда речь идет об изменении цвета; syn. – to turn. В этом
значении to go более разговорное слово, чем to grow и to turn:

§4. To grow [grəu] – grew [gruː] – grown [grəun] To grow в значении ‘делаться, становиться’ подчеркивает посте-
пенность изменения. Слово более формальное, нежели to get и to go:
• Without noticing it he grew old. – Сам того не замечая, он старел.
§5. To turn [tɜːn] To turn подчеркивает быстроту и внезапность изменения цвета
или иного состояния:
• She turned bright red. – Она вся покраснела.
• He turns nasty after he’s had a couple of drinks. – Он становится

Внимание! – To turn и to go не ставят с прилагательными old,
ill, tired.

ком-либо; syn. – to suit:
• This dress becomes/suits you well. – Это платье вам идет/вам к лицу.
§2. (To) t [fɪt]
1) Одежда по фигуре; одежда, которая хорошо сидит:
• This dress is a good/bad/loose/tight t. – Это платье сидит хоро­шо/плохо/свободно/в облипку.

1) Пара (предметов, людей):

2) Сочетаются между собой, подходить (под пару; по цвету, по форме); составлять пару (о людях); гармонировать, соответ­ствовать:
• They’re well matched. – Они подходят друг другу. Они – хо­рошая пара.

§4. To suit [s(j)uːt]
1) Быть к лицу, идти (о предмете одежды), хорошо смотреться
на ком-либо; syn. – to become:

2) Годиться, соответствовать, подходить; быть удобным, устраи-
вать (по своим целям), удовлетворять (требованиям):

§1. Bill [bɪl]
Счет, как перечень оказанных вам услуг, которые надо оплатить.
Это могут быть:
– коммунальные счета: gas bill, electricity bill, telephone bill etc;

Receipt или Bill?
