Vocabulary of the Unit

Leisure (n) – досуг, свободное время: to be at leisure – быть свободным/незанятым; leisure time – свободное время; leisure centre – центр досуга.
Treat (n) – 1) удовольствие/наслаждение: the music was a real treat to me – музыка доставила мне истинное наслаждение; 2) угощение: a cold treat of roasted mutton and beef – холодная закуска из жареной баранины и говядины; 3) (разг.) очередь платить за угощение: this is my treat – сегодня я угощаю; the treat is on you this time – ваша очередь угощать. Bore (n) – 1) скучное занятие, скука: crashing/utter bore – жуткая скука/невыносимое занятие; 2) скучный человек, надоеда: He is a monopolising bore – he never stops talking. Desolate (adj) – 1) одинокий, оставленный всеми, заброшенный: One can see desolate areas and parched ground when flying over the villages hit by the quake; 2) безрадостный; унылый; жалкий; несчастный; безутешный.
Desert(ed) (adj) – 1) необитаемый, безлюдный: a desert island – необитаемый остров; He fell asleep in a desert wood. – Он заснул в глухом необитаемом лесу; 2) заброшенный, покинутый; 3) сухой, невыразительный: desert authors – скучные авторы, невыразительные писатели.
Types of holidays
Adventure (n) – приключение; dangerous/extraordinary/incredible/ breathtaking/exciting/thrilling adventure; love of adventure – любовь к приключениям; in search of adventure – в поисках приключений; adventure holiday – отпуск, связанный с активным отдыхом; sense of adventure – дух приключенчества.
