Аbiotic factor.
A non-living component of the environment, such as soil, nutrients, light, fire, or moisture.
Adaptation.
Adapting organism to certain conditions of the environment due to a complex of morphological, physiological, and behavioral features.
Aerobe.
A microorganism that grows in the presence of oxygen.
Agroecology.
The application of ecological concepts and principles to the study, design, and management of agricultural systems.
Agroecosystem.
An agricultural system understood as an ecosystem.
Anaerobe.
An organism that grows in the absence of oxygen.
Autotroph. Literally, "self eater." Organisms capable of producing their own food. See primary producers. Contrast with heterotroph .
Area.

B Biocenosis.
The totality of animals, plants, fungi and microorganisms, which populate the specific territory. Primary (natural) and second (formed under the effect of the man) biocenoses are distinguished. The term "biocenosis" is proposed by K.Mebius in 1877.
Biodiversity.
The variability among living organisms from all sources including, inter alia, terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part; This includes diversity within species, between species and the diversity of ecosystems.
Bioinformatics.
The use of applied mathematics, informatics, statistics, and computer science to study biological systems. Major research areas include sequence alignment, gene finding, genome assembly, protein structure alignment, protein structure prediction, prediction of gene expression, and protein-protein interactions.
Biological boundaries.
A concept that differentiates one organism from another and suggests that organisms cannot or should not exchange genetic

Biological resourсes. Genetic resources, organisms or parts thereof, populations, or any other biotic component of ecosystems with actual or potential use or value for humanity.
Biological security (biosafety).
The security of human beings, society and the environment from the adverse effects of toxic, allergenic, carcinogenic, mutagenic biological substances and compounds from the natural or genetically modified biological sites and products derived from these products.
Biome.
A specific type of terrestrial region inhabited by well-defined types of life, especially zones of vegetation, that generally cannot live outside that specific region. Examples include types of deserts, grass-lands (prairies, coastal dunes), and forests (cloud forest, etc.).

Conservation.
The protection, preservation, management, or restoration of natural environments and the ecological communities that inhabit them. Conservation is generally held to include the management of human use of natural resources for current public benefit and sustainable social and economic utilization.
Conservation-tillage farming. Crop cultivation in which the soil is disturbed little (minimumtillage farming) or not at all (notill farming) to reduce soil erosion, lower labor costs, and save energy.

Сівозміна. Практика висаджування різних сільськогосподарсь-ких культур кожного сезону, аби грунт мав час на відновлення.

Decomposition.
The process by which materials are broken down into simpler compounds by decomposers.
Defoliant.
Chemicals (magnesium chlorate, butifos, butilcaptaks etc.), which applied for the release from the plant leaves.
Deforestation. Removal of trees from a forested area without adequate replanting.
Density-dependent. .Directly linked to population density. This term is usually used to describe growth-limiting feedback mechanisms in a population of organisms.
