1. What is the Internet?

The Internet is a network of computers linked together by telephone lines, fiber optic cables, satellite, and microwave connections. At the heart of the Internet is a high – speed network of supercomputers.

2. Who started the Internet?

The Internet was started by the United State Department of Defense in 1969. It allowed information to move freely around a military computer network.

3. What is the Word Wide Web?

The Word Wide Web, usually called “the Web,” is the part of the Internet where millions of Web pages containing text, images, and sound from people all over the word are connected. A typical Web page looks like a magazine page, but with your mouse you can click on “live” areas on the page to go to a new screen.

4. What can I use the Web for?

You can use the Web for research, business, entertainment, or personal interests. Some specific things people do on the Web are send E-mail, go shopping, find jobs, get the latest news, order a meal, and make travel plans. And the list gets longer every day!

Ex. 4 Make up and reproduce your own dialogue using such questions and phrases:
