Dialogue
1. Read the dialogue and act it out:
Englishman: I’m fancy, what countries are the most attractive direct and portfolio investment destinations?
Ukrainian: At present, Eastern Europe countries are. Among these countries Ukraine for sure is one of the leaders.
Englishman: I can’t angry with you here. Is Ukraine really one of the leaders?
Ukrainian: Yes, due to the specific number of reasons it is.
Englishman: Well. What do you mean?
Ukrainian: Ukraine enjoys very favourable geographical location and proximity to the EU market.
Englishman: I wonder. Has Ukraine developed economic grounds?
Ukrainian: It has great opportunities for agricultural business; economy is steadily growing up from year-to-year and well-developed infrastructure.
Englishman: I see. But what functions do taxes perform?
Ukrainian: Ukrainian income and corporate taxes are the lowest in Europe. The limit of the rate is 25% at the moment.
Englishman: I should like to indicate that investment climate in Ukraine works effectively and you are on the right way.
2. Read the dialogue, translate the Ukrainian remarks into English and act it out:
Foreigner: Ukraine is located in the centre of Europe. I wonder, where are the most attractive direct investment destinations?
Foreigner: And what about the legal base?
Foreigner: Talking about it in particular new legal entities may appear.
Foreigner: Yes, but what can you say about state guarantees for foreign investments?
Foreigner: I’d like to know more about the taxation status of foreign investments.
Foreigner: Generally speaking, it seems to me that the development of foreign investment in Ukraine has nice perspectives.
