What is Fashion?

Fashion is a 1) t_rm commonly used to 2) de_cribe a 3) st_le of clothing worn by most of people of a country. A fashion usually remains 4) pop_lar for about 1-3 years and then is 5) repl_ced by yet another fashion. Even 6) thou_h there are a lot of changes in fashion, most people do not easily 7) a_cept the changes.

A 1) ______ style may be introduced as a fashion, but its use becomes a custom after being handed down from 2) ______ to generation. A fashion that comes and goes is called a Fad. Sewing machines

Sewing machines were invented during the first Industrial Revolution with the intention of decreasing the amount of 4) man_al sewing work performed in cloth companies. Since the 5) inv_ntion of the first working sewing machine, generally considered to have been the work of Englishman Thomas Saint in 1790, the sewing machine has vastly improved the 6) effi_iency and productivity of fabric and clothing 7) indu_tries.

Though some 1) ______ machines use a chain stitch, the basic stitch of a modern sewing machine consists of two 2) ______ and is known as lockstitch, though industrial machines are usually specialized for a 3) ______ task, and so different machines may produce a different type of 4) ______. Modern sewing machines are designed in such a way that the 5) ______ easily glides in and out of the machine without the hassle of needles and thimbles and other such 6) ______ used in hand sewing, automating the process of stitching and thus saving 7) ______.

The main stitch of 1) (most older, the oldest) sewing machines, chain stitch, has one major drawback – it is very weak and the stitch can easily be 2) (pulling, pulled) apart.
