English courts

In a Crown Court 1) tr__al there are twelve 2) jur__rs. These are ordinary members of the public between the ages of 18 and 70 who are 3) sele__ted at random. They are not paid but are given 4) e__penses while they are on jury 5) servi__e, which is 6) usua__ly for about two 7) we__ks.

Service is compulsory, and it cannot normally be 1) _______ without a good reason, such as illness.
