In CAREER OBJECTIVES you have to state what position you are aiming for, e.g. "Newly chartered chief engineer with 10 years experience on board Bulgarian cargo ves­sels as 2nd engineer looking for a position of a chief engineer where knowledge, qualifica­tions and skills will contribute towards the company's goals".

Include the following points if appropriate:

- state your key strengths

- say where you are coming from - something about your background experience

- state what position you are aiming for

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

The statements under this section should summarize and emphasize your competence, skills, abilities and qualifications appropriate to the position you are applying for, e.g.

NAVIGATING APPLICANT

  • Use of English in written and oral form

  • Use of IMO Standard Marine Communication Phrases

  • Command of English to use and work with navigational and nautical publications, understand meteorological information and communicate with other ships and coast stations and to perform officer's duties with a multilingual crew

  • 5. Application Forms

  • Nowadays all companies, establishments and organizations have their own application forms prepared, which applicants are to fill in legibly and clearly. General application forms contain three principal sections: education and qualifications, employment history and personal information. Employment Application forms for ship personnel differ from the general ones in that they contain more sections, namely: personal particulars including family particulars, e.g. next of kin; national licence particulars: S.T.C.W. courses certificates; basic academic qualifications; summary of experience: experience as Master/CE, C/O, etc., on board what ship and what engine, equipment worked with, details of previous sea service; name or type of vessel or engine, DWT, rank, period of service, name of owners.
