  2. Present Simple and expressions of frequency.

Frequency adverbs usually come between the subject and the Simple Present verb (except main verb be).The adverbs in bold type may also occur at the beginning or end of a sentence.

e.g. Tom always tells the truth.

Occasionally I meet her for a coffee.

Frequency adverbs follow be in the Simple Present.

e.g. Linda is always on time.

In questions, frequency adverbs come directly after the subject.

e.g. Do you always eat breakfast?

In negative sentence, most frequency adverbs come in front of a negative verb (except always and ever). Always follows a negative auxiliary verb or negative be.

e.g. Ann usually doesn’t eat breakfast.

Sue doesn’t always eat breakfast.

Negative adverbs are NOT used with a negative verb.

e.g. Anna never eats meat.
