1) This University is the second-oldest university in the English-speaking world. It is one of the leading universities in its country, an honour it shares with the University of Oxford. The university grew out of an association of scholars that was formed in 1209. The University has produced hundreds of outstanding graduates in almost every field: Ernest Rutherford and Niels Bohr, Francis Crick, James Watson, and Maurice Wilkins, Richard Schrock and many others.

2) Established in 1636, this university was named after its first benefactort Its nickname is Crimson. During the Revolutionary War, its buildings housed soldiers. Seventy-five Nobel Peace Prize winners are affiliated with the name of this University. Its age and outstanding physical resources are among the college’s most distinctive features. Its library system is the largest university system in the world, containing more than ninety libraries, more than fifteen million volumes, and some 100,000 periodicals.

3) The University was established in 1755. In the second half of the 19th century, the university became the most important centre of scientific research and scholarship in its country. This was the tallest building in Europe until 1988, when it was surpassed by MesseTurm. The university boasts more than 30,000 students. The University campus is an extremely complex system with 1 000 buildings and structures. Its library system is one of the largest in the country. The university maintains several museum collections and a botanical garden.

4) The University is one of the oldest and largest technical universities in Europe. It was founded in 1898. It is famous for its academic excellence and leading innovative research. The University ranks first nationally, and is world recognized in the number of graduate academic and research programs in the top ten in their field. 40 500 students study at 29 University Colleges.

Currently NTUU “KPI” is the leading technical university in Ukraine. The university is well – known not only in Ukraine but abroad as well.

It was founded in 1898. At that time the Institute consisted of four faculties: mechanical, engineering, agricultural and chemical. First institute rector was an outstanding scientist-mechanic, Prof. Victor Kyrpychov, an outstanding Russian scientist in the field of mechanics and strength of materials. In 1934 - 1944 KPI was called an Industrial Institute. The glory and traditions of the University have been created by the famous scientists such as D. Mendeleyev, I. Sikorski, S. Korolev, S. Timoshenko, V. Kirpichev, E. Paton, I. Bardin, O. Mickulin, L. Luliev, O. Vinter, B. Vul, A. Lulka, V. Plotnikov, and others.

Today NTUU “KPI” has grown to around 40 000 students. Every year the University accommodates 1500 international students from all over the world.

Almost all non-Kyiv students are provided with hostel facilities. They are accommodated in 21 hostels. 3 of them are at the disposal of married students.

NTUU “KPI” trains and masters specialists who acquire Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in 54 specialties out of 27 areas of knowledge. Our students receive the highest level of education provided by the Academic and Research staff of the University. There are fifty-eight Academicians and ten thousand Professors and Researchers among the teaching staff of NTUU “KPI”.

Practicals are an important part of many courses and contribute towards the degree you have chosen. The laboratory and workshop facilities for practical work at NTUU “KPI” are exceptional, and are being improved all the time.

Many of students of the NTUU “KPI” have the opportunity to go on training and development courses, language courses, and field trips.

Scientists of the University are engaged in researching up-to-date trends of the contemporary development of the human society.

The university works and develops as a campus occupying 160 hectares where there are all the necessary conditions for tuition, sports activities, cultural standard improvement, scientific and intellectual development and for the recreation of 50,000 staff as well.
