- Oh, not much. How are you doin’?

- I’m aight in general, but I’ve been having major problems with my computer. I have to print up a report by tomorrow, and I can’t seem to get my computer to work. It’s so fussy. First there’s something wrong with the mouse, then there’s something wrong with the connection to the printer. I just don’t have a clue about what I’m gonna do, and I’m beginning to panic.

- Don’t worry. I’m sure it’s nothing. Do you know anyone who can help fix it?

- Nah, not really. That’s why I called you. Do you have any ideas? You know so many people, I was sure you’d know someone who can swing over and clean up this mess. I’m also sure it’s nothing, but I am so inept when it comes to computers, that I just dunno.

- Honestly, I’m drawing a blank. If you’ll permit me to say so, I think you should call Tommy. Maybe you’re not talking to him anymore, but he really is a computer whiz.

- That jerk? No way. You could never convince me to call him, even if he were the last person on earth. You must have some other suggestions.

- Not really. How ‘bout this. I’ll come over in a little while, at 8-ish. Ok? And I’ll see what I can do. Maybe I can help sort this out. My computer is also on the brink half the time, and I always manage to straighten it out.

- Oh, that’d be awesome. You’re the best.

- Steve, what do you think I should prepare for the party?

- I’m not going to force you to do it, but I really think you should make that great pecan pie. Everyone raves about it when you cook it.

- Oh. I figured you’d have me make that darned pie! I just made it for the get-together last week. You can’t really want me to cook it again? Isn’t there something else that I’m capable of cooking, that you might like?

- Well, I guess I can’t convince you to make that pie, no matter how much I try to encourage you to do so. I know I can’t get you to make a peanut butter dish, because you think peanut butter is too fattening. So how ‘bout that lemon-lime concoction that you made a few parties back?

- Oh, I don’t think I should make that. It contains gluten, and Josh has an allergy which doesn’t allow him to make gluten.

- Ok, ok. How about something with berries? It’s springtime after all. Somethin’ with berries could be nice and refreshing.

- Hm, berries. Maybe cheesecake with berries on top?

- Bingo! That’s just what I’m in the mood for, actually.

- Ok, you’ve persuaded me; I will make that.

- Great. Will you permit me to help you in some way? Maybe I can run to the store and pick something up?

- Sure, I think I can employ you. I already have the cheesecake mix, but I can use some berries. Will you get some? Whatever you think is best, though I’d vote for strawberries.

- Alright. I’ll go there now, and I’ll be back in a jiffy.
