Передмова
Даний навчальний посібник розрахований на студентів старших курсів вищих навчальних закладів, які навчаються за спеціальністю історія, володіють базовими навичками англійської мови та потребують подальшого вдосконалення знань щодо ії спеціального використання.
Пропоноване видання покликане сприяти розвитку вміння студентів працювати з оригінальними текстами фахового спрямування, реферувати та анотувати їх, визначати та повідомляти потрібну інформацію, практично застосовувати англійську мову.
Тематика енциклопедичних текстів даного посібника співпадає з програмою фахових дисциплін історичного факультету, відповідає програмі англійської мови для студентів-істориків, що підвищує додаткову мотивацію в опануванні професійної лексики.
Посібник складається з трьох розділів, в яких вміщено навчальний матеріал та вправи з усного та письмового перекладу англійських спеціалізованих текстів:
перший розділ складається з 35 уроків, у текстовому матеріалі яких висвітлені питання, пов’язані з історією, як академічною дисципліною; розлядаються різноманітні підрозділи історії та галузі спеціалізації;
другий розділ включає біографії істориків: зарубіжних, які згадуються в текстах уроків та сучасних українських;
третій розділ – додаткові тексти для перекладу та анотування.
Кожний урок містить такі основні частини: базовий та допоміжний тексти; лексичні вправи до них; вправи на переклад спеціалізованих текстів чи термінів з англійської на українську та навпаки. Крім того, перед кожним уроком міститься тематичний словничок, що дає змогу збагатити словниковий запас студентів з відповідної тематики.
Посібник містить також словник дефініцій термінів історичного та наукового характеру, що робить його зручним у користуванні та доступним для самостійного опрацювання.
При складанні посібника автори ставили собі за мету:
Формування навичок роботи з літературою по спеціальності;
Викладення думок у письмовій та усній формі;
Підготовка до обміну практичною інформацією зі спеціальності.
Різноманітні лексичні вправи сприятимуть збагаченню фахової лексики загалом, поліпшенню опанування англійською мовою.Усі вправи розроблені для закріплення навичок оглядового та поглибленого читання, сприяють опануванню смислової структури тексту.
