3. To the Notary Office Port of Rochester,
Port of Rochester 8 April, 2000
Great Britain
STATEMENT OF SEA PROTEST.
I. Vladimir Ivanovich Krasnov, Master of the M.V. «Slava», registered in the port of Murmansk and sailing under the Russia flag, gross tonnage 89G, on the 4th of April, 2000 sailed from the port of Kaliningrad with the cargo of fish meal in bags, 768 long tons, bound for Rochester and arrived at Garrison Point Roads on April 8.2000 at 12.30. UTC receiving free pratique at 14.30. UTC
On the 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th of April we encountered heavy weather with south — westerly and north — westerly gales, force 7, and high sea. The vessel was pitching, rolling and labouring heavily, shipping sea water fore and aft, hatches being continually awash. On the 7th of April the water temperature fell from 16°C down to 2°C.
In consequence of the above weather conditions, I anticipate possible damage to the cargo owing to intensive sweating on the metallic surfaces and the increase of water content.
I, the Master, and the crew have applied all meas of safeguarding the vessel and the cargo.
I hereby declare this Sea Protest in the event of any damage to the vessel or the cargo through stress of weather conditions during the voyage.
Witnesses to the Sea Protest:
