III.
Sequence of Tenses
Не says (that)
The Past
Indefinite (Simple) или The Past Continuous (Progressive) Tense:
Mary said she was planning to take a trip.
Jim felt he was sleepy.
he's working hard.
he worked hard.
he will work hard и т.д.
113

Sally said she didn't like chocolate.
Past Perfect Continuous:
He thought he had seen her somewhere.
The manager knew I'd been working for the same company for 12
years.
Future in the Past:
He thought he would come to the meeting.
I supposed I should visit my aunt and uncle.
времен со структурой to be going to и модальными глаголами:
Mr Rice said he was going to Chicago.
Jean considered she couldn't afford to buy a new car.
Martha supposed she might go to the library.

The teacher told the children that the earth is round.
Linda said she called her doctor 2 hours ago.
Sue said she must talk to Pr Reed.
I said he should talk to you (he ought to talk to you).
I said he needn't talk to you.
Не said that if he had time he would go to the pictures.
