PROSODY
The book is devoted to the problems of prosodic variation in spoken discourse in English. The primary focus of the book is on multidisciplinary analysis of discourse prosody. Drawing on the findings made in their own studies, the authors look at the way prosodic means function in different spheres of communication. The book also provides a detailed description of the new trends in professional discourse in the sphere of education accompanied by the discussion on the approaches to teaching English pronunciation with regard to the priorities of teacher education.
The book is addressed to specialists in phonetics, phonostylistics, pragmalinguistics, EFL teachers, undergraduate and postgraduate students and all those who are interested in the problems of speech communication in English.
