Личное местоимение в именительном падеже всегда выполняет функцию подлежащего в предложении, тогда как местоимение в объектном
падеже является дополнением. Личные местоимения отвечают на падежные вопросы кто? что? кого? чего? кому? чему? и т.д.

Притяжательное местоимение в присоединяемой форме всегда употребляется только вместе с существительным, а в не присоединяемой
(абсолютной) форме — без существительного. Притяжательные местоимения отвечают на вопросы чей? чья? чье? чьи?

ВОЗВРАТНЫЕ МЕСТОИМЕНИЯ
§ 1. Возвратные местоимения образуются путем прибавления к притяжательным местоимениям my, our, your, личным местоимениям him, her,

it, them и неопределенному местоимению one окончания self (к местои-
мениям единственного числа) и selves (к местоимениям множественного
числа): myself, yourself, yourselves, ourselves, himself, herself, itself, themselves.
В отличие от личных местоимений, 2-е лицо возвратных местоимений
имеет отдельные формы для единственного числа (yourself) и множественного числа(yourselves):
Don’t hurt yourself, Peter! — Не ушибись, Петр!
Don’t hurt yourselves, children! — Не ушибитесь, дети!
§ 2. Возвратные местоимения употребляются в функции дополнения
после ряда глаголов. Они соответствуют в русском языке:
1. Частице -ся (-сь), которая присоединяется к глаголам для того,
чтобы придать им возвратное значение, показывая, что действие переходит на само действующее лицо:
He defended himself bravely. — Он храбро защищался.
Be careful! Don’t cut yourself. — Будьте осторожны! Не порежьтесь.
При некоторых глаголах, как to wash умываться, to dress одеваться,
to shave бриться, to bathe купаться, to hide прятаться возвратные местоимения часто опускаются:
They like to bathe in the sea. — Они любят купаться в море.
He always hides in this room. — Он всегда прячется в этой комнате.
2. Возвратному местоимению себя (себе, собой):
She isn’t pleased with herself. — Она недовольна собой.
I bought myself a new dress. — Я купила себе новое платье.
После глаголов to feel чувствовать себя, to behave вести себя и неко-
торых других возвратные местоимения не употребляются:
They feel well. — Они чувствуют себя хорошо.
He behaved like a child. — Он вел себя, как ребенок.
§ 3. Возвратные местоимения употребляются также для усиления значения существительного или местоимения, соответствуя русскому местоимению сам (сама, само, сами). В этом случае они могут стоять как в конце
предложения, так и после слов, значение которых они усиливают:
He said it himself. (He himself said it.) — Он сам это сказал.
We saw it ourselves. (We ourselves saw it.) — Мы сами это видели.
