I know him to have been writing this article for 2 hours. —
§ 4. Инфинитиву обычно предшествует частица to: to speak разговаривать, to buy покупать, to read читать.
I intend to call on him and discuss this question. —
I asked him to telephone me on Monday or send an email. —
Такое употребление частицы часто встречается после глаголов to want хотеть, to wish желать, to mean иметь в виду, to try
пытаться, стараться, to allow разрешать, to be going собираться, ought следует, to have в значении «долженствовать», should (would) like хотел бы и др.:
Не wants me to go there tonight but I don’t want to (подразумевается:
go).
I was asked to take part in the trip, but I am not going to (подразумевается:
take part).
