Introduction
To the student!
The problem of interpreter’s erudition is quite relevant. Ideally, background knowledge should be equal to well-educated native speaker’s knowledge.
This manual is aimed at enriching student’s knowledge of the outstanding representatives of the world culture, getting acquainted with their works and learning some realia pertaining to a particular area and period.
Various translation and interpreting assignments which have been suggested will hopefully lead to enjoyable communication and fruitful translation practice.
The order of the Sections to be covered may be quite optional. Texts in the section «Sight translation рractice» may well be given for both class and individual practice.
The manual consists of Six Sections and is designed for cultural potential formation and raising the interpreter’s cultural awareness.
Good luck, dear students!

Wisdom poured (for the translation practice)
