Young people on the job market

To bring out ways of achieving effective employment of the youth, it is necessary to carry out a complex monitoring of the youth job market in total with the analysis of such characteristics of the youth which either help or prevent from consolidation of the position of a young man in the sphere of social and labour relations.

Under existing Russian condition the number of young people coming out on the job market with a profession (specialty) has been decreasing and at the same time the number job hunting people without neither professional, nor finished secondary education has been increasing.

Participation in labour activity of teenagers of 14-15 years old is a result of decreasing living standard of the nation. The lower a family income is the more interested the family is in the teenager’s labour activity. In this case it’s the family who can stimulate breaking of the teenager’s education and coming out on the job market.

The process of acquiring of professional knowledge, abilities and skills is most intense in the group of 17-20 year old people. Specific dates of acquiring of professional education vary depending on the living conditions of a young man, choice and form of acquiring of education.

So that young people don’t experience problems with their first job position appointment, an organization can take the following steps: to provide the candidates for work on the stage of living with the most realistic information about their future working conditions; they can keep up the original initiative of the beginners, giving them the opportunity to show their professional skills at most; they can provide them with the opportunity to choose an instructor, capable of leading the beginner in his professional aspiration.

Practically all employers negatively estimate such qualities of young workers as absence of work experience and the ability to develop relationships in their working group, unstable behaviour, excessive emotionality; that is everything what’s characteristic of a socially immature young man. This results in a discrimination of young people in the job market.
