The History Of The Company POLAR

The history of the company POLAR began in October 1992, when some students from Moscow flying institute holding the same ideas decided to open their own manufacturing of the TV sets. The equipment was not imported to our country and home television equipment was of low quality.

The designers decided to begin the production of the high quality cheap home TV sets. Their goal was to create a TV set that would meet the world standards. It should be the most functional and with modern design. But the most important was the following: it should be reliable under complicated Russian working conditions, i.e. voltage jumps in the mains, remoteness from television center and non-standard signal of cable network.

The first TV sets of POLAR were the TV sets of the fourth generation with remote control.

In 1994 the specialists of the design office POLAR began the development of the new television design. The import technological equipment and a new set of PHILIPS microcircuits were bought for the work. The first lot of the TV sets of the sixth generation was on sale under its own trademark – POLAR. The specialists of the company made the best preparations for this important event. According to the set object the mark POLAR should serve as a guarantee of the quality and reliability. For the first time among Russian producers voltage protection from jumps in power network was adjusted and perfected power supply unit with “duty” regime was used in the POLAR TV sets. But it was only the beginning. The laborious work on the image and sound quality, functional richness, perfection of the design and expanding of the model range were in advance. The POLAR designers left behind other Russian development engineers. So the home producers brought in the manufacturing of the TV sets with the reception of cable band TV channels and began the production of the TV sets with stereo sound and new design that had side acoustics systems. They made a transition from the unit construction of electronic circuit to the mono-gear earlier than others. At the end of 90s the first steps were made in bringing in the production of the TV sets with the elements of Digital technologies. The engineers didn’t forget to give a treat to consumers, e.g. by completion the TV sets with remote control with lighting keys.

In 1996 the specialists marked numerous innovational elaborations of the POLAR design office. The patent was granted for circuit engineering solutions of the POLAR TV sets. The financial crisis broke out in 1998 and became a turning-point in the development of the company. POLAR was one of those not numerous producers that managed to stand up in that crucial moment. The advance of the company began from the realization of the new system approach to business: the introduction of the competent politics of management, organization of the efficient manufacturing structure and system of sale. The dealer net POLAR was spread all over Russia.

In 2000 POLAR was among the first Russian producers which began the production of the TV sets with digital quality of the image. Afterwards the own company’s working out, i.e. the technology of new generation - Digitotal Technology, was patented. If earlier the TV sets with the digital technologies could be met only among expensive “foreigners”, today Hi Fi digital television equipment becomes accessible to the broad section of Russians.

The transition to the new powerful control processor of ZILOG with high quality of signal processing and wide service possibilities including videogames was carried out parallel to the introduction of digital format. The new circuit of the power supply unit of heightened reliability with the system of automatic voltage and decreased power consumption in “duty” regime were inculcated. Surprisingly rich and natural image became possible in POLAR TV sets due to the combination of modern element base and Russian engineers’ know-how. Highly sensitive tuner and auxiliary filters adapted to the home transmitting stations excluded noise and interference. High quality, advanced technological solutions used in production of POLAR TV sets won a high appraisal: POLAR TV sets won a gold medal on IV All-Russian exhibition of different branches of home goods “Buy Russian Goods”. According to the results of testing carried out by the experts from special magazines the POLAR TV set models were marked by diplomas and Grand Prix.

In 2003 POLAR began the production of DVD-players of the new generation made on one-crystal video processor MT1379 – the new elaboration, automobile LCD-TV sets and household equipment, i.e. washing machines, microwave ovens and vacuum cleaners. It produced the millionth CRT TV set. In the nearest future they are going to produce home cinemas and to expand the line of models of presented equipment. By the end of 2003 the part of the company reached 17.9% in the market of Russian TV sets and it is increasing invariably now. POLAR sales its goods in 89 regions of Russia where there are more than 240 service centers of the company. From the small firm POLAR turned to the corporation – joining up of the companies that are occupied with the elaboration, manufacturing, transportation, service and delivery of television components.

The production is carried out at two plants i.e. “POLAR” in Cherniachovsk, Kaliningrad region, and “Arsenal” in Alexandrov, Vladimir region. “POLAR” is true to the chosen strategy – to produce reliable equipment at most adapted to Russian working conditions.
