My Working Day
I am a first year student of the Primary Education Faculty of the Samara State Pedagogical University. I live in Samara in a student’s hostel.
I have much to do because I am a student. I attend classes and take exams. As a rule my alarm-clock wakes me up at half past six and it’s time for me to get up, then I air the room and make my bed. I do my morning exercises to the music and go to the bathroom. I take a cold shower and rub myself with a towel to feel warm. Then I wash my face, brush my teeth, do my hair and dress.
At seven o’clock, I have my breakfast. I usually have a cup of coffee and some sandwiches. By the way I never read while I am eating.
After breakfast I walk to the University. It takes me 5 minutes to get there because I live not far from the University.
The classes begin at 8 o’clock. We usually have 3 or 4 periods. We have seminars, lectures and practical classes. We study History, Psychology, Principles of Education, Russian, Ecology, Botany, English and many others interesting subjects.
After classes we go to the canteen and have dinner. After dinner I have a short rest and then go to the reading hall and do my homework: I read books, magazines, prepare for seminars and practical classes.
If I have some free time, I like to meet with my friends. Sometimes we go to the cinema or to the theatre in the evening. I usually watch TV or read a book before going to bed.
I. Answer the questions:
When do you usually get up?
What do you do in the morning?
When do you leave your house?
How long does it take you to get to the University?
What do you usually do during your working day?
What do you do in the evening?
When do you go to bed?
II. Describe a normal day of: a) a five-year-old boy, b) a 16-year-old girl, c) a 40-year-old housewife, d) a 70-year-old lady.
III. Прочитайте и переведите слова и словосочетания:
Study, alarm clock, wake up, get up, do morning exercises, music, bathroom, cold shower, rub with a towel, wash, brush, do hair, dress, classes, reading-room, library, report, do homework, prepare lessons, go for a walk, have breakfast (dinner, supper), kiss smb. a good night, go straight to bed.
