Оборот there is / there are.
There is и there are используют, когда хотят сказать, что что-то существует (или не существует) или находится где-то. Подлежащее (предмет, о котором идет речь) ставится после глагола, а на первое место ставится слово there. Предложения строятся по схеме:

e.g. There’s a hole in my pocket. – В моем кармане – дырка. (звучит натуральнее чем: A hole is in my pocket.)
REMEMBER!
Вместо
there нельзя
использовать it:
There
is a lot of noise in this room.

Используйте there are с подлежащим во множественном числе: There are pictures on the wall.- На стене картины.

REMEMBER! There is используется с неопределенными подлежащими (это когда используется неопределенный артикль (a, an), когда артикля нет, или используются слова some, any, no), и с неопределенными местоимениями как somebody, nothing. e.g. There’s something worrying me. – Меня что-то тревожит.
Обычно there не
используется с определенным подлежащим.
The
door was open. – Дверь
открыта.
(Ошибка: There
was the door open.)
Оборот во времени Past Simple.
В прошедшем времени группы Simple если подлежащее стоит в ед. числе, употребляется оборот there was, а если во мн. числе, то there were.
- There was a pen here, but I don't see it. - Здесь была ручка, ноя ее не вижу. - There were books here. Have you got them? -Здесь были книги. Они у вас?
Оборот во времени Future Simple.
В будущем времени группы Simple для подлежащих в любом числе, употребляется оборот there will be.
- There will be many people at the meeting. - На собрании будет много людей.
Образование вопросительной формы.
Вопрос образуется путем изменения порядка слов в обороте. Надо поставить вспомогательный глагол (to be в нужной форме - для времени Present Simple и Past Simple ,will для времени Future Simple) перед there:
- Is there a newspaper on the table? - На столе есть газета? - Were there many mistakes in my test? - В моей контрольной было много ошибок? - Will there be many people at the meeting? - На собрании будет много народу?
Образование отрицательной формы. Отрицательная форма образуется при помощи отрицательной частицы not, которая ставится после вспомогательного глагола:
-There isn't a book in my bag. - В моей сумке нет ни одной книги. -There weren't any books on the table. - На столе не было (никаких) книг. - There won't be many people at the meeting. - На собрании не будет много народа.
Отрицание можно образовать и по другому. Для этого перед подлежащим надо поставить отрицательное местоимение no, которое будет служить определением к нему. Употребление no исключает употребление артикля. В английском предложении не может быть два отрицания, поэтому оборот будет стоять в утвердительной форме:
- There is no time for this work. - Для этой работы нет времени. - There was no ink in my pen. - В моей ручке не было чернил.
There is a mouse in the house. (В доме – мышь) There is a cat in the flat. There is a fox in the box. There is a bee in the tree.
