that knowing a foreign language will help you to promote
and make a career, because a language is necessary in do
ing business. Nowadays, there are numerous ways to learn
foreign languages.
Firstly, you can attend attractive courses with the par
ticipation of native English speakers; secondly, you may
do intensive shortterm courses for managers with special
attention paid to professional vocabulary. Above all, you
can now find English book shops that sell books specializ
ing in English for beginners, as well as books with audio
and video tapes. Also available are language camps in the
country and abroad. Finally, you may take advantage of
working in a foreign country or seek a job among native
speakers to learn the everyday jargon and speak the lan
guage like the English people.
It would be great if you choose one of the ways to learn
English and could do a successful business with foreign
partners.

Main Thesis:
I believe, to get a good job means to know a lot includ
ing foreign languages.
Furthermore, I need English. It’s useful to know it,
because it is the only way to communicate. I travel a lot
and want to be able to make myself understood.

concern of my future work in the company; therefore, I pay
much attention to studying the communicative activities
at school; I am sure, the success of advertising depends
on the interpretation people give to their meaning.
Besides, we use different words and expressions; we

provide practice in communication and written practice:
reports, essays, poems, business letters and job application
forms. Above all, even listening to pop music helps me to

On top of everything, I’m going to attend specialized
courses in interviewing techniques which are useful for
employers and others who interview people frequently in
their professional lives. It requires practice in the use of
the appropriate style of speech. If you want to sound like
a business executive, you have to talk the way businesses
talk while they are on the job. I hope to study business.
How can I improve my knowledge of English in the sphere
of business and management? I personally believe that
there are several ways how to do this:
Firstly, video helps to develop our imagination, it gives
us a real taste of the country.
Secondly, memory maps build up vivid mental pictures,
link the words with the images.
Moreover, situation itself (context) gives us a real un
derstanding why we should speak that way.
But with no doubt, living in an Englishspeaking
country is supposed to be the best way to learn. It may
be:
1. students’ exchange
2. paying guest visit
3. group visit
4. language courses
5. sports, holidays
6. staying with a friend by host family
Finally, reading, listening and speaking will help me to
do my best.

1. GOING TO THE CINEMA
*Task 2.
It was a lovely summer evening. Mike was waiting for
his girlfriend under the clock near the cinema. He invited
Jane to the first night of a new French comedy. The show
started at 7.30 p.m. But Mike came in advance because
he was excited. Moreover, he bought flowers to meet
Jane.
While Mike was standing at the entrance, people were
coming up. There was no Jane among them. Mike felt nerv
ous and disappointed, the flowers faded. Nevertheless, he
was still waiting for her.
It was 8 o’clock! The film was over, and the spectators
began to exit onto the street. Suddenly Mike saw Jane run
ning to him. When she saw the time on the clock she was
shocked. Her watch showed only 6 p.m. Then Mike suggested
her buying a new watch. Therefore, they rushed to the watch
shop, and Mike made her a present — a new watch.
Now, Mike was sure that his girl would never be late.
So, next day Mike and Jane met at 6 p.m. and enjoyed a
new French comedy.

The horizontal axis shows the days starting from Jan

It is difficult to project either growth or fall of the
LSE’s daily closing share price in the following months of
the year 2006, because a price per share at any stock ex
change is unpredictable, changing and fluctuating.
