You can’t hold off much longer, you have to give him an answer.

to keep after – продолжать преследовать кого-либо / to continue to pursue.

to keep at – продолжать делать что-то с упорством, настойчи-

во / to continue doing something even if it is hard or unpleasant.

Learning phrasal verbs is hard so you have to keep at it every day.

to keep away (from) – держаться в отдалении, не подпускать близко / to stay away.

She had to be kept away from school as she had measles. Она была вынуждена не посещать занятия в школе, так как болела корью.

to keep back – 1) оставлять, откладывать / to conceal; to not use or give away all of something.

Keep back some of the cream to put on top of the dessert. Оставь немного сливок, чтобы положить их поверх десерта.

We kept our relationship from our parents for two years. Мы хра-

твий / to prevent oneself from doing something.

to keep in – 1) оставлять кого-либо дома или после уроков

(в виде наказания) / to make somebody stay indoors (as punishment).

The teacher kept us in for misbehaving in class. Учитель оставил нас после уроков за плохое поведение на уроке.

2) поддерживать что-либо, keep in touch – поддерживать отношения.
