a) Перевірка виконання домашнього завдання: переклад вправи 17 стор.125.

b) Answer the questions (Exercise 17 b, page 125):

• How long did it take you to identify the source of each text?

• How many times did you read each text?

• Did you need to know every word in the text to do the task?

• Which words did you use and which ones did you ignore?

• When is it important to know every word? Why?

c) When we describe something we paint a picture in words. Read the descriptions and choose the pictures they describe: exercise 18 pages 125-126.

Pair work. Choose one thing from the picture. Describe it. Let your partner guess what it is. Then change roles and repeat.

d) Вправа 20 стор. 126: Put the pictures in the correct order and then make up an instruction.

Use the rules and words in the box. Start like this:

1. Make a square and fold it in half diagonally.

2. Fold the square diagonally the other way.

3. …………………………………………

fold – press – unfold – diagonally – vertically – horizontally.

e) Вправа 21 стор. 127: answer the questions.

f) Let’s imagine that you’ve got Mathematics lesson at the English language school. Could you follow the following instructions of your Maths instructor?

Addition is a rule by which the sum of two or more given numbers may be obtained.

• How much is 12 and (plus) 8?

• It is 20. It equals 20.

• It makes 20. It is equal to 20.

• We can’t take 12 from 8.

• 12 from8wont go.

Мета: ─ вдосконалювати навички усного мовлення та читання з теми;

─ вчити учнів логічному висловлюванню при виконанні проблемних завдань;

─ сприяти розвитку критичного та аналітичного мислення, аналізу та самоаналізу, колективізму та персональної відповідальності;

─ виховувати інтерес до вивчення англійської мови і естетичне сприйняття навколишнього середовища.

a) Перевiрка виконання домашнього завдання: вправа 22 стор.127.

b) Write down the following quotations and try to comment on them:

  • “The roots of education are bitter but the fruit is sweet”

  • “Nothing that is worth knowing can be taught”. Oscar Wilde (1854 – 1900)

  • “See the happy moron. He doesn’t give a damn. I wish I were a moron.

d) Вправа 24 стор. 127 – Read the descriptions of three types of learners and say which group you belong to. Prove this by remembering what you were doing during the previous English lesson:

During the previous English lesson I was writing the composition.

During the previous English lesson we were learning grammar rules.

During the previous English lesson our group was doing the project.

During the previous English lesson we were making up the dialogues etc.

e) Вправа 25 стор. 127: answer the following questions:

• Which of the three types is better for work in class? For homework? Why?

• Is it important to know what type of learner you are? Why?

• Is it important to use other types of learning? Why?

• Can you develop a different type of learning? How?
