VIII. Match the words in the left column with the definitions in the right column:

ORDERING FOOD

Customer: I’d like the menu, please.

Customer: Thanks.

Customer: Yes, I’d like onion soup and a steak, please.

Waiter: How would you like your steak – rare, medium or well-done?

Customer: Well-done, please.

Waiter: Would you like the steak with chips or mashed potatoes?

Customer: With chips.

Waiter: And what would you like to drink?

Customer: Orange juice, please.

Waiter: Is everything all right?

Customer: Thank you, everything is very tasty.

XI. Complete the following dialogues using the words below them:

order and act it out:

– It’s high time to have a snack. Would you like to go to the café?

– All right. Let it be our canteen then.

– Oh, the choice is very good. For the first course we can take either borshch or chicken broth. For the second course they serve cutlets with mashed potatoes, fried fish with chips and stewed meat with vegetables.

– I shall have borshch and the cutlets. And what about you?

– As for me I’d rather have a good substantial dinner. What about going to our canteen?

– Let’s have black coffee and apple pie.

– Have a look at the menu. What do they serve today?

– I don’t think I’ll have any.
