    1. Read and translate the text: staying at a hotel

When travelling, people almost always stay at hotels. Nowadays basic accommodation of a room with only a bed, a cupboard, a small table and a washstand has largely been replaced by rooms with en-suite bathrooms and air-conditioning. Other fасilities found may be a minibar, a telephone, a TV, a safe and the Internet. Hotels often provide a number of additional guest services such as a restaurant, a swimming pool, laundry service, conference service. So accommodation as well as rates varies from hotel to hotel. In most countries hotels are classified according to a number of stars - five stars is the best that a hotel can achieve. Five star hotels are the most expensive. Most hotels offer single rooms, double rooms, twin rooms, family rooms and suites.

In the lobby of a hotel there is a reception, where guests check in and out. The check-in procedure takes a few minutes. The guest should fill in and sign a registration form. Then the receptionist tells the guest the number of the room and gives the key for the room. The bellboy shows the guest to the room and helps with the luggage.

During high season it’s advisable to book a room in advance otherwise on arriving at the hotel a person can be told that the hotel is fully booked and there are no vacancies.
