■ Ex. 1. Complete the following stories about Gary Hoffman and Jenny Hopper. Put in the correct simple present form of the verbs in brackets.

a) Gary Hoffman is a Cambridge graduate. He is 27. He (work) with Barclays. He is a Retail Sales Manager. He (like) practical business of banking. He is responsible for branch work. He (help) branch managers with marketing. His job (take) him out of the office lour days out of five. A typical working day (begin) at 7.30 when he in the office to dictate notes and go through the post and the financial press. At 9.30 she (consider) a proposition from a building company. The company (want) the finance to expand. Jenny (make) notes on the case. At 10.30 she (have) another meeting with a company which (want) to buy a new factory. Jenny (make) notes on this meeting too. At 12.30 Jenny Hopper (receive) two important clients. They (discuss) her proposals and then Jenny and her colleague (give) the clients lunch in the branch dining room. It (make) a pleasant change from a sandwich. At 3.30 new clients (come) and (present) their plans. At 4.30 she (write) a report to the head office and finally (leave) for home.
