Correspondence preceding conclusion of contracts

Der Sirs,

We thank you for your comments and proposals on our draft contract for the construction of the car assembly plant.

We are glad to tell you that having studied your amendments, we accept them on the whole and are ready to introduce them into our contract.

At the same time we would like to restate that in accordance with our contract for the construction of the car assembly plant on a "turn-key" basis, the Contractor assumes full responsibility for the organization and execution of all civil works.

The civil works shall be carried out by both Russian specialists and local firms engaged as subcontractors. The works to be executed by your local firms shall be supervised by competent Soviet specialists, the cost of their services is included in the contract price. We have already made enquiries about the firms and believe that they have sufficient experience, competence and facilities to execute the works we intend to entrust to them.

In view of the above we ask you to consider the present letter and if the contract is of interest to you to let us know by cable when you are ready to sign it.

We have pleasure in sending you offer for the construction on a "turn-key" basis of five systems of oil pipelines in accordance with your tender documents of 5th March, this year.

The offer has been prepared on the basis of the tender documents and amendments made to them lately.

We believe that you would get a considerable advantage if you entrusted the construction of all five systems of oil pipelines to one competent contractor. In this case it easier to solve the problems of coordination of deliveries of equipment and materials, supply of constructional equipment and mechanisms, and to choose reasonable wage rates for local labour of different categories.

The most important problem in the construction of the five systems of oil pipelines, however, is full standartization of process equipment, which if achieved, would mean reduction of operational expenses and unification of spare parts during the operation of the oil pipelines.

Though the prices in our offer correspond to your prices, we are glad to inform you, that if the construction of all five lines is awarded to us, we shall be able to grant you a reasonable discount and are ready to discuss the matter at any time convenient for you.

We enclose herewith a guarantee of the Bank for Foreign Trade of Russia, provided for in the tender documents.

We are pleased to have the opportunity of handing our offer to you and will be glad to discuss with you all the amendments you may find necessary to make.

Настоящим сообщаем, что мы не сможем больше поставлять вам запасные части N N... Дело в том, что эти запасные части сняты с производства. Завод-изготовитель перешел на выпуск более совершенной модели, отвечающей всем требованиям новейшей технологии.

Запасные части, которые будут поставляться в будущем, отличаются рядом преимуществ. Одним из них является то, что предлагаемая модель более надежна в работе.

Мы просим Вас рассмотреть наше предложение и, если у Вас возникнут какие-либо замечания, мы будем готовы обсудить их.

Надеемся, что наше предложение Вам подойдет. Стоимость запасных частей по настоящему контракту будет скорректирована на взаимоприемлимой основе.
