…В отличие от книг, газеты и журналы выживают во многом благодаря рекламе. Это означает, что на их содержание и выпуск влияют интересы крупных рекламодателей.
Издание книг происходит по другим законам. К этому процессу не требуется привлекать рекламодателей. Здесь нужно устанавливать контакты с распространителями печатной продукции, крупными сетями сбыта, а теперь и с Интернет-магазинами, например, Amazon.com.
Вместе с тем, несмотря на многообразие изданий, профессиональные обязанности в редакционной и производственной сферах практически везде одинаковы. Авторы пишут тексты. Редакторы готовят эти тексты к публикации. Корректоры не только проверяют, чтобы в текстах все запятые стояли на своих местах и названия были написаны с большой буквы. Эти люди следят за тем, чтобы все страницы шли в нужном порядке и вид журнала или книги полностью соответствовал желанию издателя. Это очень кропотливая работа, которая требует точного соблюдения всех действий и особого внимания к деталям.
