The complex object
Complex Object consists of a noun in the Common Case or a personal pronoun in the Objective Case and the infinitive with to or without to.
E.g. He wants you to help him.
Він хоче, щоб ви допомогли йому.
She asked Ann to show her the letter.
Вона попросила Ганну показати їй листа.
I saw Pete give her the book.
Я бачив, як Петро дав їй книгу.
1. Complex Object is used with to
a) after verbs denoting mental activity: to think, to consider, to believe, to know, to expect, to suppose, to find, to understand.
E.g. I don’t expect them to get back before next Tuesday.
Я не сподіваюсь, що вони повернуться раніше наступного вівторка.
We consider him (to be) the best student.
Ми вважаємо його найкращим студентом.
We know to have taken part in the conference.

b) after the verbs denoting wish, intention, emotions: to wish, to want, should (would) like.
I want you to read this book.

c) after verbs denoting order, request, permission, advice, compulsion: to order, to force, to tell, to ask, to allow.
He told his secretary to get everything ready.

2. Complex Object is used without to
a) after verbs denoting perceptions of senses: to see, to hear, to feel, to watch, to notice.
The students heard him to(omit) play the piano.

b) after verbs to make, to let
He made them work.
