(to be + Participle I)
Дієслова у формах Continuous описують дію як процес, тобто дію, що триває(тривала чи триватиме), у певний момент мовлення у теперішньому, минулому, або майбутньому :
I am going to school (now). - Я йду в школу (зараз).
I was reading a book yesterday at 5 o'clock. -Я читав книгу учора о 5 годині.
I will be watching TV tomorrow at 7 o'clock. - Я дивитимусь телевізор завтра о сьомій годині.
Окрім цієї функції, дієслова в Present Continuous виражають дію, віднесену в найближче майбутнє :
We are leaving for Kyiv in July. - Ми від'їжджаємо до Києва в липні.

Present Continuous вживається для вираження дії, що триває зараз або період дії. Вказівка на час типу now (зараз), at the moment (в даний момент) може бути або вираженою, або матися на увазі.
З дієсловами, які означають не дію, а стан, Present Continuous зазвичай не вживається:
