Sports in our life

People all over the world are fond of sports and games. Sport is very useful for people. It makes people healthy, keeps them fit, more organized and better disciplined. It unites people of different classes and nationalities. Physical culture is a compulsory subject at schools and colleges. Many people do sports on their personal initiative. They go in for skiing, skating, table tennis, swimming, volleyball, football, bodybuilding, walking, jogging, etc. Bending and stretching will add flexibility and feeling of lightness. All the necessary facilities are provided for sportsmen: stadiums, sport grounds, swimming pools, skating rinks, skiing stations, football fields. There are different sporting societies, clubs and complexes in our country. The most famous of them are the Olympic complexes "Luzhniki", "Dynamo" stadium, etc. They are used for international and world competitions. We all need to exercise. Even if you don't plan to make a career in sport you still have to practice. Regular exercises give you more energy. They make you feel and look better.

Healthy lifestyle

Nowadays our life is getting more and more stressful. People live under the pressure of different social, ecological, economic and other problems. To stay healthy we should avoid different bad habits.

Smoking and drinking too much alcohol are the worst ones. Smoking, for example, causes a number of heart and lung diseases. Yet many young people smoke and drink. Why? One answer is that tobacco and drinks companies invest enormous sums of money in advertising their products.

There are less dangerous habits connected with taking meals. We stuff ourselves with fast food — chips and pizzas, hamburgers and hot dogs, because we are always in a hurry. We want to eat now and we want to eat fast.

But what is tasty is not always healthy. Doctors say that chips and pizzas are fattening, cola spoils our teeth and coffee shortens our lives. If we eat too much, we'll become obese, and obesity leads to heart disease, diabetes and other serious illnesses.

A lot of people try to keep fit. There are a lot of ways to lose weight and avoid gaining it. But excessive dieting may be dangerous, too. Some young girls and women refuse from taking regular meals and as a result fall ill with stomach diseases. They often get depressed and have difficulties with working and studying. You should take your meals three times a day. Your meals should be rich with vitamins, minerals and proteins.

Lack of exercise is another serious problem. We spend hours in front of our computers and TV-sets. Few of us do morning exercises. We walk less, because we prefer to use cars or public transport.

Research shows, however, that young people who don’t take enough exercise often suffer from heart attacks. The only way to stay healthy and to keep fit is going in for sports. Among the benefits of regular exercise are a healthier heart, stronger bones, a quicker reaction and more resistance to various illnesses. It is also very important to spend a lot of time in the open air, to walk before going to bed and to air the room.

 There are some good habits that strengthen our health. Sleeping eight or nine hours, doing morning exercises, getting up and going to bed early, a healthy diet and going in for sports are really effective ways to keep our health.
