It's a common knowledge that working for a multinational company with offices all round the world may be sometimes difficult. Especially, difficulties arise when you have to coordinate the work of offices located in different countries.

Basing on my working experience, I can say that our manager participates in such calls. Usually, he uses Skype calls because they allow to see and to hear your partner at the same time. In addition, our manager participates in Skype conferences.

If there is a big time gap between offices, the main issues are discussed earlier and then are transmitted to the top manager of the company. In this case, someone from the head office of the company presents additionally ideas of this office.

Situation 14 Working at Christmas

When I read this topic, first things that came to my mind were the following: I have no children yet and I'm not a manager of the company. So, this issue still seems to me difficult.

Nevertheless, I would like to present you my idea how to cope with this problem of planning holidays.

If I were the manager of the company, I would ask everyone his plans for the coming Christmas. I'm pretty much sure that everyone would like to spend time with his/her family, friends, etc.

In this case, I would offer them a kind of questionnaire where I will put questions concerning Christmas - attitude, traditions, willingness to celebrate.

If the results were negative and I couldn't distinguish volunteers to work at holidays, I would offer them additional perks. For example, a higher salary or additional days-off after holidays.

In my mind, such approach could lead to a positive result.

Situation 15 Speak about the potential risks (PEST) facing the business.

Pest analysis comprises assessment of political, economic, socio-cultural and technological impact.

Working for a multinational company comprises the assessment of all the factors mentioned above and how they will impact on company's performance.

Mostly, company's do a PEST and SWOT analyses in order to analyze the current situation or make predictions.

In my case, I will take into account the results of PEST analysis and then establish goals based on these results.

What is PEST analysis?

PEST analysis is an analysis of political, economic, social and technological macro-environmental factors. It's a strategic tool for understanding market growth, decline, business position and direction for operations.

As for me, I work for a Belarussian IT company and we would like to have this PEST analysis.

Political

Logic way is a belarussian company. To assess the influence of the governmental policy it's necessary to be aware of the last political news and changes in Belarus.

Economic

The price for our services depends not only from the belarussian government but from the Government of our clients. Unfortunately, it's a confidential information who are clients are. We can’t exchange info.

Socio-cultural

The activity of our company does not depend on socio-cultural effects. It depends more on the economy of our clients.

Technological

Developed tools and programs will positively effect on company's productivity. In general, our work depends on the ability to communicate.
