Episode five First day at Dynateam innovations
Paul Lucas, а newly recruited sales and marketing manager of the Eastern European Department arrived at the office at 8:4_` AM. As agreed he meets John Boden, his new boss, at the company's reception and information desk. This is his first day at Dynateam Innovations and he smiles at everybody he meets but he is nervous deep in his heart.
Mr. Boden: Hi, Paul. How are you today?
Paul: Very well, thank you.
Mr. Bodes: How do you like Cleveland? Your wife must be
very busy decorating your new apartement.
Paul_ Yes she is. She likes it here. I can show you
a picture of my family.
Mr. Bode: Oh, it's a nice picture ... Come on, I'll show you
your office. You don't smoke, do you?
Paul: No, l don't.
Mr. Bodes: It's good that you are a non-smoker. Smoking is
prohibited here. Your office is on the second
floor, next to mine.
John Bodes and Paul Lucas go upstairs.
Mr. Bodes: This room is the Accounts Department. It's headed by Bill Bentley. He's been with the company for 20 years. You'll meet him tomorrow at 11 AM. I have already told that we've introduced a flexitime system, have I?
Paul: Does it mean that I can start anytime?
Mr. Boden: It means that you can start any time from 8 AM to 10 AM. Your work day lasts 7 hours plus 1 hour lunch break.
Paul: Where does the staff usually have lunch?
Mr. Bodes: We used to have a canteen. But it was not popular with the employees. Most people prefer to go out for lunch. Of course, we have micro-waves and coffee-machines. They are on the first floor near the photo-copying room. If you drink a lot of coffee, you'll need a lot of quavers.
John Bodes greets a tall lady in a dark-blue suit.
Mr. Bodes: Do you see Mrs. MacNeill? Stella is our personnel manager. The Personnel Department is in the North Wing next to the Purchasing Department.
Paul: Am t supposed to meet Mrs. MacNeill in person? I got my employment contract and the company's insurance papers last Monday. I signed everything, but I believe I need your signature.
Mr. Bodes: As I'm your immediate boss, I'll sign the papers and take you to the Personnel Department to meet Stella. if you have any questions about the company pension scheme end the holiday arrangements, ask Stella.
Paul Thank you, John. You are most helpful ... Do you have any conference facilities?
Mr. Boden: Yes, we do. On the first floor. We have staff meeting there on Monday at 10 AM. The big wigs, I mean the Board of Directors, have their meetings there too. Look, we are just passing the office of Mr. Henry Н. Walker III, the Chairman of the Board of Directors. Oh! It's 5 to 10. Let's come back to ту room. At 10 I have а meeting with а very important customer from Taiwan. I'd like you to be present. Your subordinates Kerr and Young will also be there.

BUSINESS ETIQUETTE
