Datavision tv monitor
The MF combine operations are electronically monitored. All the driver has to do is to keep an eye on the DATAVISION TV MONITOR.
With the DATAVISION monitor the operator can check all machine functions at any time without leaving his seat. The driver must only press a button and all important functions he needs are displayed on the screen. He can read the shaft and drum speed, fuel level; total acreage harvested, oil pressure, etc. DATAVISION will automatically warn the driver about any defects in combine operation and if necessary will stop the engine to prevent damage. The monitor provides real time information on the crop, tank capacity, grain loss, engine operation, machine maintenance and settings. A printer built into the control panel can provide the print outs of the data, contained1 on the screen.

Combines
Combines are farm machines widely used to harvest crops. The variety1 of combines is great. Most of them are self-propelled2 machines. These giant self-propelled machines are able to cut a crop in the most convenient3 direction. They have a large variability in forward speed and may work effectively with crops.
In a combine we can define the cutting, threshing, separating and cleaning units. Their functions are to cut the grain, to deliver the cut grain to the threshing unit, to separate the grain from the straw and chaff, to clean the threshed grain and to collect it.
The reel, the deliver, the cutter bar and the auger are correspondently4 the main parts of the cutting unit.
As for the threshing unit, it consists of the cylinder (drums), the concave, and the front and rear beater. Threshing takes place at the cylinder and the concave, thus, the distance between the cylinder and the concave must be controlled.
Partially5 the threshed grain is separated from the straw at the concaves, but some grain is mixed with the straw mass. The straw-walkers and grain sieves help to separate this threshed grain from the straw mass. This is the task of the separating unit.
Under the concave there is the grain pan. All threshed grain falls into it.
After being cleaned the grain is directed to a grain tank. The tanks are unloaded by a large auger or sometimes unloading is done hydraulically. Then the grain is delivered to a trailer.
To provide good threshing of the grain you should mount the combine harvester correctly, taking into consideration proper concave clearance. Combines are very expensive machines, so our task is to make their working lives longer.
Test questions
1. What are combine-harvesters used for?
2. What functions do the main mechanisms perform?
3. Why can reel tines be angled, and what for?
4. What unit of the combine moves the crop to the centre of the platform?
5. How does the capacity of the combine vary?
6. What does the weight distribution depend on?
7. Why is it necessary to perform the testing procedures and perfect maintenance?
8. Name the main faults of the combine.
9. How can we eliminate the main faults and damages?
