XVI. Read and translate the text: eating out in britain

Eating out is quite popular in the UK. There are four kinds of eating places in Britain:

1. Takeaways. You buy your food there and you take it home. The most common takeaways are fish and chip shops and Chinese takeaways. The food there is quite cheap.

2. Fast food restaurants. You order your food at the counter and then take it to your table to eat it. Hamburger and pizza restaurants are the most common fast food places.

3. Pubs. Most pubs serve food. But you must be 16 to go into a pub and you can’t buy alcohol until you’re 18.

4. Restaurants. A waiter or waitress serves you. When you have looked at the menu and chosen what you want to eat, the waiter comes and takes your order. Normally, you tell him what you want for the first two courses. He takes your order for dessert and coffee later. When you finish eating, you ask the waiter to bring you the bill. In most restaurants a service charge (10-15%) is added into the total sum that’s why it’s not necessary to give the waiter a tip. There are many different kinds of restaurants in Britain. Chinese, French, Indian and Italian are the most common.
