Cherkasy Banking Institute is 40 years old. It was founded in 1968 as a Financial Technical School. Today about 1500 students study at full-time and correspondence departments of the Institute. Earlier the students were admitted to the institute on the basis of their results at the entrance exams. New rules of accepting students to higher learning institutions were introduced in Ukraine in 2005. They are based on the results of contests of general independent testing certificates.

The students are trained in three specialities: finance and banking, finance and credit, and accounting and auditing.

The teaching staff of the Institute consists of professors, readers and lecturers, 30 of whom have Doctor of Sciences Degree and Candidate of Sciences Degree.

The Institute has two academic buildings with all education facilities: well-equipped laboratories and studies, lecture-halls, computing centres, a training bank, a library, a reading room, an assembly hall, a gymnasium. It also has two halls of residence, a stadium and a canteen.

The academic year is divided into two semesters. The students take exams at the end of each semester - in January and June.

The course of study at the Institute lasts for four years. When students finish the course, pass their final exams and submit graduation projects they get Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s Degree requires one more year of study.

The Institute prepares specialists for the National Bank, commercial banks, financial and credit institutions.
